Where'd that Feature Go?

by KKline via Kevin Kline on 12/1/2008 6:22:00 PM

Reading up on my notes today, I found an interesting post by Cristian Lefter that I thought I'd share.  Cristian originally found this on a CTP version of SQL2008, but it should still apply.  In Cristian's words:

I was playing with the new options to track deprecated features in SQL Server 2008.  I launched a Profiler and I was about to run SELECT DATABASEPROPERTY('master','IsAutoShrink'); Before I had the time to press Run, an event from Profiler itself was displayed:

"TEXT, and IMAGE data types will be removed in a future version of SQL Server. Avoid using them in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use them."

Read more about the incident at:

And see the screencast that generated the incident at:

Thanks for sharing, Cristian!  =^)  Enjoy,

-Kevin
